Remodeling Updates
LIBRARY RENOVATIONS CONTINUE…
Updated 2013.05.08
Graduate Writing Center (GWC)
-
Furniture is being ordered, curricula developed, and writing tutors coming on board. Look for a grand opening this summer in the First Floor Library Information Commons area.
Reference Assistance Desk
-
Tuesday 28 May We will relocate the Reference Desk closer to the DKL Entrance near the General Information Desk. This will give you quick access to key public services staff and make space for the GWC.
Media Room
-
We have reorganized the Media Room -- relabeling and displaying DVDs, PlayAways, and other media in an easier to find, more browseable manner! This collection is enjoyed by many across NPS. Please let us know if there are titles you think we should consider adding! http://www.nps.edu/library/forms/bookrequest.aspx
Starbucks Update
- Starbucks -- the "engines" that are the heart of the Starbucks machine are ON ORDER! The wall between Starbucks and the Media Room will be sealed off during construction, which is expected to run 14-31 May. We'll all look forward to a mid-summer grand opening!
Skylight Repairs
- DONE! No leaks and we have much better UV-rated glass to reduce heat gain and glare. Enjoy the reopened lobby and study spaces.
Please watch for regular updates.
For assistance, please inquire at the General Information & Library Services Desk. We apologize for the construction noise and activity and will maintain a continuous supply of ear plugs at the Desk.

DKL Librarian, Greta Marlatt, wins 2012 I Love My Librarian Award
This is a fabulous recognition of the nearly 24/7 service Greta provides to the faculty, students and staff in the NPS community, our alumni, and military/homeland security leaders around the globe. It is also a tribute to the tremendous engagement that Dudley Knox Library has with our community—all for the intent of providing the highest-quality information and services to support instruction and research at this great institution.

The video and photos from the awards ceremony will soon be posted on the I LOVE MY LIBRARIAN website. Major media and library publications are also helping to support this recognition of the impact and value of librairies within our communities. For updates, check us out at

eResources Perpetual Access
To access NPS-only library resources, please either use the CISCO VPN or have your library account information available so that you will be able to log into the library's proxy server when prompted to do so.
Please Note: Accessing NPSBart is not the same as using the NPS VPN so if you are using it, you will be prompted to log in with your Library Username and PIN to access the commercial resources paid for by the Library.
NPS-only licensed resources are available to:
Current NPS faculty, registered students, and staff (whether on a permanent, temporary, contract, or visiting basis) who are permitted to access the NPS Secure Network onsite or remotely and who have been issued a password or other authentication for remote access. Walk-ins and guests are only permitted to access the Secure Network from designated on-site workstations in the Dudley Knox Library.
Alumni access is available for a select set of licensed resources. First time users must register. Access anytime/anywhere by login/password.
