January 31, 2017. Assistant Secretary of Defense memo requiring that scientific and technical information created or acquired in the execution of research and engineering activities be documented and sent to DTIC.

AAU & APLU Endorse Public Access to Research Data
November 29, 2017 "The Association of American Universities (AAU) and Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today released a report that details principles and recommended actions universities and federal agencies can take to advance timely access to data from federally-sponsored research grants."
DOD Instruction 3200.12: DOD Scientific and Technical Information Program (STIP)
This issuance amends policy directing public access to publically releasable peer-reviewed scholarly publications, require projects to include DMPs, and updates procedures to gain access to federally funded scientific research results.
NSF Proposals & Awards Policies & Procedures Guide Update
Changes affect awards made or proposals submitted after January 30, 2017.
NASA launches PubSpace
"PubSpace is an archive of original science journal articles produced by NASA-funded research and available online without a fee. The data will be available for download, reading and analysis within one year of publication."

PubDefense: DOD Public Access Search Tool
Includes an initial collection of published journal articles that refer to DOD funding. When DOD begins to receive manuscripts from authors of DOD-funded research, the manuscripts will be matched against the publishers’ versions and combined citations will be shown."
