Only research results marked with DTIC DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT A "Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited" are subject to the public access to federally-funded research policy.

DOD Instruction (DODI) 5230.24, Distribution Statements on Technical Documents (dated 23 August 2012) Incorporating Change 1, Effective April 28, 2016
States that all documents sent to DTIC must be assigned a distribution statement by the contributor.
